Tips-for-a-Consistent-Martial-Arts-Practice-Classic-Fight-TeamClearly defined martial arts goals, proper recovery, and purposeful training can help you keep a consistent martial arts practice.

Here are a few more tips on how to stay consistent with your training:

1. Schedule your workout.

If your martial arts school gives you the option, try scheduling the classes you’ll attend ahead of time. Rather than deciding each day when (or of) you’ll train, keep to the schedule just like you would any other appointment. Creating a daily or weekly routine around your training will help you stay more consistent.

2. Keep it fun.

You can take your training seriously while keeping it fun. Training consistently doesn’t have to be something you have to do. It should feel like something you get to do. To make your workout something you’ll look forward to, try to keep it fun. Doing something you enjoy will help you stay consistent.

3. Add variety.

A routine can be familiar, especially when life feels uncertain. However, sticking to the same exact workout day after day can start to get a little dull. If you’re feeling stagnant, then it can be more challenging to motivate yourself to work out. Change things up and be intentional about how you add variety. Try a new instructor. Go back to training the basics. Try some variations on familiar movements. Get creative in how you can mix things up and continue to find new ways to add variety to your training.

4. Team up and join a community.

Being held accountable by a friend or a supportive community can help you stay consistent, as well. Even if you’re constantly training together, you can still support other members of your group. Check-in with your training partners and offer support to stay on track and consistent.
